She is Watching & She is Learning
Mums of Daughters….. you are awesome! You are doing an amazing job. You are incredible and I salute you! If I could, I would reach through the screen you are reading this on and I would give you a big hug. Like a hug so tight you knew I meant it, and I would whisper in your ear
“You are my hero.”
I know it’s not easy. I know you are tired. I know you are worn out and I know most days you feel you are taken for granted. I know you feel like your life is on repeat some days, wash, tidy, clean. Wash, tidy, clean. Wash, tidy, clean, the cycle seems never ending. And if we were going to be really honest, some days you think to yourself “This is not what I signed up for, where is the quit button!”
But I want to encourage you, please, hang in there! Please know that all you are doing is investing into your daughter, yes even those mundane things you do every day! Even on the days that you wish things were different, keep doing what you are doing, knowing that you are making a difference. Believe me, she is watching. She is watching and she is learning.
She is seeing your perseverance. She is seeing your servant heart. She is seeing the love you have for your family. She is seeing love and sacrifice at its best. And she is seeing Jesus with skin on.
Sure, she may see the flip side on the “not so good” days, but this is teaching her that we are only human and its ok to have a moment where we lose it, where we apologise, and then we get back on track.
You are her role model, and she is watching.
And I want to encourage you, one day you will see the fruit of your labour. One day she will do something amazing, and you will wonder where she learnt it from, and it will be from you! Yes, you! You who persevered, you who hung in there when it was tough, you who showed her what true love looks like! YOU!
So as you go about your “Motherly” duties this week, know that there is a bigger picture than just cooking, cleaning, folding laundry and running around after kids! You are shaping your daughter’s view on the world. She is watching and she is learning and you have the privilege of being the one to show her how beautiful life can be.
