"Perfect Love" Retreat

We are super excited here at #dotk!

Our yearly retreat is only 2 weeks away and the anticipation is building!

We cannot wait to hang out with your girls and speak God's truth into their lives.

The girls are so excited to come! I spoke with one girl yesterday and she was counting down the sleeps....how cute is that? For them it is all about the food, the fun and the crafts. For them, it is about connection with other girls and giggling in their cabins till all hours of the morning. For them, it is a sense of belonging.

But for us as a leadership team, it is all about God's truth! Sure we love the fun and the food too, but it is our hearts desire that each girl will come away from the weekend with a greater sense of her identity in Christ.

We believe the girls view of themselves, and how they see themselves in the world is key to them growing into teens with a healthy self image.

It breaks our hearts to see young girls calling themselves fat, saying they have no friends, and saying they are getting bullied at school. To come to camp in tears because life is tough and all they want is to belong. To just fit in.

As leaders, we have been praying into this retreat for months. We have been seeking Gods heart for the girls and asking Him what message He wants them to walk away with. And this year we believe He wants them to know that they are loved. That they can walk in freedom because they are loved. It is not about what they do, or who other people think they should be, but it is all about His perfect Love.

His perfect Love which can carry us through those hard times. His perfect Love which can speak identity into who we are. His Perfect Love which casts out all fear!

And so as we continue to prepare for camp, would you please join us in prayer? Would you join with us in praying that the girls would know His truth and that the weekend would have significance in their young lives. That it would bring them closer to God and His truth about who they are created to be.
