Back To School
Well, it's that time of year again!
That time where we put away the togs and towels, we hang up our summer clothes, we put away the beach ball and the pool toys, and we exchange them for school uniforms, lunch boxes and routines!
Now this can bring a flurry of mixed emotions for us Mums:
"Oh my goodness, I CANNOT wait to get the kids out of the house." "I am so looking forward to some peace and quiet."
"Wait, what? I am just not ready for school to go back."
"Can't we go to the beach one more time."
"Where did the holidays go? Haven't they just started?"
No matter what your reaction is to the thought of school going back, it is happening friends, and we need to be ready!
I have learn't that the more ready and prepared I am, the smoother the transition will be.....for all of us!
So, here are 8 Back to School Life Hacks that will help with the new term. Okay, here we go:
1. For all those hair ties that get left here there and everywhere, try storing them in a pill organizer or a craft box. If you were super organized you could even colour co-ordinate them!
2. Over the door organizer. These things are brilliant! You can pick them up cheap from K-Mart or The Warehouse and you can use them to help organize your girl! From clothes that she will wear for the week (if she's not in a uniform) to school supplies, to craft stuff, these organizers are great for keeping things in order!
3. Pack school bags and leave them by the door. If you have the room you can create a school organization centre by your front door. If bags are packed and ready the night before, you will be surprised how much time (and stress) this can save you in the mornings!
4. Prep/Pack lunches. I know, the last thing you want to be doing in the evening is packing lunches for the next day! But you know what is even worse? Trying to get everything done in the rush of the morning hustle! So save yourself some stress and get this done the night before. If the kids are old enough, get them to help you.
5. Morning routine checklist. Ever get sick of nagging the kids? I know, it can be never ending right? A morning routine checklist can be a great way of eliminating some of that nagging! Make a list of things that need to be done every morning and have the kids tick them off as they go. You could even have a wee reward at the end of the week if you wanted extra incentive for the kids!
6. Sound the alarm! Need to be out of the house at 8.30? Then set an alarm on your phone for 8.20 which will give everybody a 10 minute warning so they can finish what they are doing and get themselves ready to leave.
7. Have a Family Calendar. Keep it somewhere where you all spend a lot of time, somewhere like the Kitchen. You can colour code it so each family member can see what they have coming up in the week. An erasable one makes it easy to change things....because as Mums we know this can happen a lot!
These can easily be made or there are free ones you can print off the net.
8. Prep any extra curricular activity gear they need the night before! If you have used the family calendar, they will be able to see what they have coming up and get it all ready the night before. This will also help them with being responsible for getting themselves ready.
So there you have it! 8 simple things that could help you and your gorgeous kids be super organised in the mornings. Because anything that can help us with morning routines has got to be good for our sanity right?
